Project Overview

Scale was the defining constraint here: thousands of products across unrelated categories, all of which have to be searchable in a single, coherent experience. The backend is split into services so that search, catalog, campaigns and orders can grow independently, while a dedicated search engine handles queries and comparisons. Personalised recommendations surface relevant products from a catalog that would otherwise be overwhelming, and a caching layer keeps carts and time-limited campaigns responsive under load. The result is a marketplace that stays fast as it grows.
